If the Japanese industry hadn't had so many problems in Gen7 both technical and otherwise then they might have been able to cover this across the board, but not with the sort of games they're currently making. A standalone FF or KH could still help generate something of a turnaround but it's always going to be niche. Still t least it punches above it's weight I feel in terms of SW sales |
Yes, these Japan numbers at least will make sure that the handheld still gets support and I'm enjoying these eastern titles (specially Soul Sacrifice, Persona and Gravity Rush) while I know that on PS3 (and PS4) I will get the best of western games, so it's a win/win situation. If things remain like that, we will still have another good thing coming: more handhelds. It's no secret that in the west the smartphone are killing handhelds, but if Japan remains buying these devices maybe we can hope to have more handheld generations ahead.
