No. It just Cant. It takes a WHOLE LOT of power to encode MPEG4 / h.264 on the fly. It would probibally take 25-50% of the cell. If you dont beleive me. Go find PSPvideo9. And encode a video on your computer. That's how much power it would take. Second - The Wii would do a GREAT job of being used as a 'DATA BASE' Ya-know. The PSP comes with a 1gb memory card... Just as much as the Wii. You can get a 4GB Memory card for the PSP... Just like you can the Wii. The Wii will NEVER make for a media server untill it gets a HDD. Third. Yup. LocationFreeTV. Dont need to buy a 600$ PS3. You just have to buy a 200$ peice of hardware for the job, that cant play games. I have a PS3. I'd LOVE if it can stream multimedia to my PSP. I'm not intrested in buying a LocationFree. staticneuron - If you've played with the Remote Play on the PSP/PS3. Imagine that over the internet. It would be killer. In refrence. The Wii might be able to encode it on the go. But I highly doubt the DS has enough power to decode it. QUESTION: Does anyone have a modded DS, can you run MPEG4 on it? EDIT: The DS could possibly do this. However the fact nintendo has released ZERO support for audio/video on the DS. I would think it would never happen. The M3 video player for DS can play MPEG4. However, It would be still unknown as to what bitrate it is capable of, and if it could handle streaming it off the WiFi.
