I agree with your first statement.

FFX-2 had a lot to offer. A good story that compliments X's, a good combat system, so many hidden gems and unlockables, New Game Plus, hidden dungeons.

People just can't get past the pop music and cosplay outfits.

And I also like Rikku, Yuna is just my fave due to reasons stated in OP. Rikku's plight is that she is like the child that keeps finding abandoned animals and wants to bring them all home. Intentions are pure, but harsh reality stands in it's way. When it comes to X-2, I might be the only person that found Paine's goth androgenous appearance more sexy than Rikku or Yuna lol.

I kinda dropped sexyness in the 2D world, and i felt like Paine was overacting all game long, so I did not like her much =/

And for Yuna, her innocence dropped from X, so she is pretty for sure, but I preferred her in X. But X-2 kinda made me love X's Yuna even more =)
