I think it's time Vgchartz tracks the iphone. Why? Because the day of "dedicated handhelds" are all but a memory. Both the 3DS and PSV are now basically entertainment devices which play games. The iphone easily doubles both handhelds in software sales combined (yes, I know that most of those sales are for $0.99-$3.99 games but that's irrelevant) and it's how most mainstream and casual gamers play and consume their games. Since Q1 2012, the iPhone has sold around 140 million units. That's nearly 100 million more than the 3DS in less time on the market. Cut it anyway you want, that's impressive.

Let's face it, times have changed and are changing. Do I love traditional handheld gaming? I'm 34 years old. My first memories of handhelds start in 1989 with the original Gameboy which I got as a birthday gift. So yes, of course I love handheld gaming. I wish things could stay the same forever, but that's not realistic. Things change. You don't have to like it, go along with it or endorse it. But you HAVE to accept it.

I think we should adopt the iphone as a gaming platform, for better or worse, and track it along with the other platforms. What do you think?
