Whenever I feel like I missed out on something big, I just go out, buy the console and some of the games I want to play. (If I have the money lying around)
I felt like I missed out on the Dreamcast era, so I went out, bought one, bought some of the games I wanted to play like Shenmue I and II, problem solved!
