We had a Pokemon Direct last year and all that was shown was pokemon X / Y related. I think it will be the same with Smash Bros. |
The Pokemon Direct happened at the start of September, and Pokemon X/Y was released in mid-October. If Smash were expected in mid-May, I'd agree that this would make some sense. But why would you hold a fully-dedicated Smash Direct months before release, when you could hold the big stuff like that for E3?
Also, Pokemon has just a once-in-a-while bit of info released, whereas Smash has a website dedicated to continuously releasing info. So a fully-dedicated Smash Direct would be taking away from the content that would be posted on the website.
If they're not going to talk about related games, then the only other thing I can think of is that they're going to announce something directly Smash-related, like a VC release, or something.
