Personally I've had no problem with Android. And I don't believe the whole spying thing either.
Lots of apps say that though, check out the Facebook App's terms and conditions (for iOS and Android AFAIK) for example.
At any rate, I prefer Android to iOS, though I like both so you can't really go wrong.
