I believe what he is saying is that if you are going to be paying for LIVE anyways, especially if the free game is an online game, what's the big deal? With the PS+ style service you're not only getting access to much newer titles, but more overall titles as well. My sub is still good for another 13 months and I already have a stupidly large backlog on PS3 and that doesn't even count the other games I get on my Vita and PS4. You get A LOT of games. "Renting" all those games (You will end up with well over 30+ easy per console) for just $50 a year and no due dates is a freaking steal. You could rent a limited selection at your local Redbox kiosk (US) for $2/day per title.
He also makes the point that yes you OWN a game like Titanfall (Or any "Online Only" title), but isn't it almost the same idea as PS+ games? Don't pay your LIVE sub, Titanfall is gone.
Yes you could always choose to get LIVE again and play your Titanfall, but same holds true for PS+. If I do not renew my sub, I lose access to all the games I got. Once I sign up again I regain access to any and all PS+ titles I downloaded in the past. I don't neeed to keep them on my HDD either. They will always be available for me to download, free of charge. $50/year and the longer you stay the bigger of a steal that $50 becomes. It is value that grows over time.
Honestly, I am shocked it is only $50/year. I took advantage during Black Friday and snagged a year for $30.
This would be awesome for XBox One. It would add so much value and I would easily have one in my home and pay the $60/year sub.
iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.
