Everyone wants to chase the dragon that is World of Warcraft, even as WoW itself begins to stagnate. But you never catch that dragon: like the Old Republic, FFXIV, Dragon Quest X.

You don't need to have WoW numbers to be a successful MMO. FFXIV is doing extremely well for Square Enix. As long as you can build a solid userbase then an MMO can be very profitable.
