Except when the game still doesn't move many consoles despite being from a proven franchise like 3D Mario, NSMB, Wii ___, and Donkey Kong Country, then you know it's the system that is at fault, since there's no other reason for one popular franchise after another sell badly compared to it's predecessor. SM3DW should still end up around 5 million lifetime, becoming one of the Wii U's best sellers.

If you really don't think the next big leap for 3D Mario wouldn't have moved more hardware and software than a sequel to a 3DS game, then frankly you're out of touch with the market, like Nintendo.

I guess Mario 64 must not of have been a "big leap" then since the N64 still sold worse than the SNES, and I'll bet Mario 64 also sold worse than Super Mario World, but I'll have to check that one. Not that any of that matters since as Call of Duty and countless other games have shown, people don't give a hoot about "big leaps"!
