VGChartz at least uses Japanese and UK retail trackers when bringing their estimates in. While insiderp says random numbers with no source to back it up. See my post above.

 

There's actually a difference between predictions and estimates. 

What you mean is, there's a difference between getting it wrong because your predictions based off of proper calculation was wrong, and getting it wrong intentionally for the traffic the figures draw in.
