Based on their most recent and relevant iterations on 3DS, Mario Kart is in the same tier saleswise as NSMB and 3D Mario as their 3DS versions are all looking to sell +10 million. So because the already released NSMBU and SM3DW haven't changed the Wii U's current course of selling less than the GCN, it's not very likely that MK8 will either.
Now to counter a few points you made, it was the hardware (touch screen, motion controls) and non gamer games (Brain Training, Wii Sports, etc.) that sold the DS n Wii, and the resulting install base simply enabled their traditional games to sell much more. We know this because those same games like Mario Kart, Smash Bros., etc. have released on other systems, yet those systems did not sell as well as DS n Wii. Infact, on the home console side of things, they've been on the decline every generation asside from the Wii of course. Now that motion controls n non gamer games have lost their appeal, we're back to the norm. Also, Zelda isn't even in the same tier as Mario Kart saleswise, and Smash Bros. 4 is multiplatform. |
There is a massive difference between posting a literal "wall of text", which boo-hoo some people don't feel like reading (and no one said they had to), and being a natural writer and feeling like articulating one's point. There is also a big difference between "getting personal", which I did not do, and pointing out that you post this kind of thing and say that MK8 will do nothing signifcant for sales, yet have a big MK8 banner. I was merely pointing out irony, not "Attacking" anyone.
Also, as for your counter-points, by that logic, I guess Nintendo should just give up, and not release any games at all or Wii U from here on out. Just eat the massive $$$$ loss and spend years developing another system while having zero active home console on the market, yes? Makes total business sense.

A wall-o-text is a wall of text, regardless of the content or how it was written, and getting personal is when you talk about things that have nothing to do with the argument (such as what we're doing right now), like pointing out my signature, and the only reason I can think of for doing that is to rustle some jimmies. My signature sure doesn't support your argument or hurt mine afterall.
Anywho, I can only laugh at your second paragraph, and the third smells like a cheesy cop out ("you cant understand anything, waaaah!") to cover up the fact that you can't refute anything I've said, which is understanable as it'd be like saying the sky is green. :L
