Nexus phones are $350 off contract straight from Google. Mobile gaming is growing rapidly. Just today an article came out showing its 50% of Japan's gaming market. Mobile marketplace is not like console/pc. They could sell it for far less and make just as much money. Especially if they continue to leave ads in. I've saying for a couple years now that mobile will rival consoles and pcs soon. I figured Google/Apple would make their large push in 2013. Seems I was a bit early on that. Seems like they are more content on marginal changes than a big push at this point. |
I don't think there will be a big push, more like a long-term and slow push that will continue to grow the market.
It is quite funny reading people's comments on here comparing mobile games to console games. The mobile market is growing and it's not just the casual games like Angry Birds and Candy Crush that are bringing in revenue. Mobiles are capable of producing some pretty decent console-like games; Deus Ex: The Fall, Infinity Blade, Dead trigger, The Room, GTA, Final Fantasy etc. The quality will improve as developers learn how to get the most out of the platform and interface.
