You think the Wii U will easily outsell the PS4 by 800k-1.3m over the next 40 weeks in Japan? There are still 9 more weeks before Mario Kart. It is unlikely that the Wii U will close a measurable amount of that gap in that time period. So that leaves 31 weeks in the year. That means to hit your top end of 2.5m ahead of the PS4, the Wii U will need to on average outsell the PS4 by 42k every week. To put that in perspective, the Wii in the same time period in 2008 only outsold the PS3 by 831k or ~27k per week. To put it in further perspective the Wii U only averaged 18.7k in the same time period last year. So even if PS4 sales are zero, the Wii U will need to be up 125% YoY.
We could look at the full year 2008 which also included Mario Kart and Smash, as well as Animal Crossing and the continued sales of Wii Fit/Sports/Play (which sold far more than Bayonetta or Hyrule warriors are likely to). In the full year the Wii outsold the PS3 by 1.88m or about 36k per week. That was one of the PS3's worst years even.
