Not that they can't afford it, but the problem with this is that it doesn't actually do all that much to strengthen the brand or create new revenue streams. It only takes bricks out of the jenga tower.

And it gives ammo to the faction inside MS that is anti-Xbox. Which I believe is the reason why MS wanted to sell Xb one at a profit from day 1, to keep the naysayers inside MS quiet.
