Microsoft sucks at making games, thats why. They put too much faith in unproven partners. Sony does the opposite. They engage in creative creations internally and endorse those who are creative to join them. They create great relationships based on common goals and make more experimental games. Every gen they increase their collection of first and second party IP's. Its amazing how many they have now. Its quite sad to look at Microsofts list of games compared since they've joined actually made since joining the gaming industry.
This is why they pay third parties and they've admitted it already. Its the safer bet and its more profitable for them. Theres too much risk, especially late in a gen.
