I don't think it will happen, at least not as quickly as you are suggesting. Too many regions in the world have crappy internet. I think they learned that they need to wait a few years before the world is ready for all digital. I don't think microsoft will really toy around with a disc less hardware option until possibly late in the gen. That will be the final remodel in preperation for a new gen where they will finally be able to do their digital era.

Not having capabilities in other regions didn't stop them from releasing in Europe where none of the tv functions worked as intended (not sure how well they work now after updates, etc).

Plus, digital is growing...even at 40gbs for a game, there might be some other kind of solution yet unexplored.

I agree digital is growing, and I agree that it may play out the way you are saying, but I just think microsoft won't do it is quickly as you suggest.  I think it will be something they will do after the x1 has been out for 5 years or so as a way of testing the waters for a next generation.

The reason I think this is the way the public completely turned against them at the announcement.  I think microsoft will want to put more space between the 180 and any future disc less hardware options.  Thats my view anway...
