Ohh, no argument from me that they should release the next gen versions later, traditionally slower Feb-March would be perfect.
But I feel what Ubi is doing is the perfect solution given the circumstances, very core gamer oriented. They can't ditch the PS360 just yet. There is too much profit to be made there still. So what are studios usually doing? Cross gen games, which usually equals PS360 games with 1080p60 (if even that) skins. I don't want that, I assume people who have next gen consoles don't want that, we have played games like those for years, we want something new, bigger, better, more lively, more complex, not only shinnier. That's why we've got next gen consoles. But only a handful of devs have enough balls to ditch last gen platforms and the potential profit to unleash their games from last gen performance shackles. Plus it may piss off those who don't want, can't afford etc. a new console.
Here comes Ubisoft. They are in a comfortable position with gargantuan studios (like 1000+ employees) and multiple studios working on their big projects. They can afford to simultaneously work on two big games, last gen owners aren't left in the cold, they still get an AC this year, next gen owners can be happy because they get a game that (probably) uses the potential of their consoles. And next gen consoles are the future, that's obvious, so they get the previous gen game as well.
As for the last paragraph, it goes both ways. Even though I still have my PS3 and don't plan to sell it, but if I would have bought every game I'm interested in day 1 I would be done with 7th gen when PS4 released, cause as it looks I won't buy any game with a release date of 2014 and beyond for it. My situation is different I enjoy and play Ps+ games, have a backlog and still plan to buy some games that I missed throughout the gen. But I can totally imagine a scenario where someone would be done with previous gen and sold his console for whatever reason, and it would be valid.
So it is happening...PS4 preorder.
Greatness Awaits!
