Maybe i'm not expressing myself correctly. Selling out is not the point here, they don't need to. What i mean is the VP of Namco, before PS4 launched said he expected 500k units sold for 31 March. What i'm saying, is, that maybe he was so sure about that number because Sony was expecting the same and he knew that. In conclusion, Sony made a calculated aproach to reach the 500k figure as consistent as possible.
Look at the numbers...
PS4 first 5 weeks
309.154 / 309.154 65.685 / 374.839 35.294 / 410.133 29.677 / 439.810 30.201 / 470.011
(thanks to ethomaz post)
The numbers seems too round and calculated, and if PS4 sells 25k next week, after MGS GZ launch, i think what i'm saying must be true.

I guess the shipments per week can be like...
350k / 350k 50k / 400k 50k / 450k 50k / 500k 50k / 550k 50k / 600k
600k shipped with 500k sold seem right to me.

That's what i'm trying to say, thanks ethomaz for show it more clearly than me
In Japan are very accustomed to very frontloaded sales of shipments. Probably they calculated what was the number to sell 80-90% of the shipments. Too low and they will have too much stock problems, too much and they will have to explain why so many units in stores unsold. So maybe they calculated they needed to ship 500-600k units to reach that %.
This is just a theory...
