If I had to write a list of "things that will happen", I would put this news below Microsoft acquiring Sony (or indeed Oculus Rift itself, that would've made sense) and me ever finishing Dark Souls (

In other words, this news surprises me. A lot. But let's see where this goes. Might be a surprising move, but so long as it isn't cannibalised it's not the end of the world.
Regardless of all that however, I have to question the valuation of the company. There's no way they'll get anywhere close to that back. FB has been splashing the cash a fair bit - too much - recently, and this is another example of over excitement and hence overevaluation of a product. I do hope the OR does well, I'm sure it will, but not well enough to be worth that much...
