That isn't going to happen. The next Nintendo console will release in November/December 2017 at the earliest. There's absolutely no chance in hell that Nintendo are going to have their 8th generation lasting only 3 years.

Nintendo gave up on the GameCube after 2004, the "they always support their consoles 5 years!" is garbage honestly. 

No they didn't. They carried on their support through 2005 and 2006, although they did start to slow down in its last year for obvious reasons.
