How exactly is Miyamoto responsible for every decision Nintendo makes ? I completely agree with Veknoid here. He has earned the right to work on whatever he wants, or retire if he feels it's time. He has done more for Nintendo than anyone else, and any recent mistake that you could attribute to him will never erase that.
Besides, Miyamoto has already stated that he's thinking about his eventual retirement and is training younger developers to fill his role in the future. And there's no evidence of him having lost touch with gamers, just opinions.
