Forums - Gaming - Should Shiggy retire since he lost touch with the gamers

Miyamoto does not use focus groups. Instead, Miyamoto figures out if a game is fun for himself. He says that if he enjoys it, others will too. He then tests it with friends and family. Miyamoto wants players to experience kyokan; he wants "the players to feel about the game what the developers felt themselves.

A simple look at sales tells us that is not what gamers want.

Thus the question remains if he ever was thinking about retiring why not at the low point. Let new guys take the wheel.

in other words he has lost touch for years, so let him enjoy fishing and eating pizza while retired.

I would miss him dearly and gaming as a whole would lost a valuable (if not the most valuable) developer but yea, I think he should, not cause he has ran out of ideas, just hes old and I think for him and his family, he should just retire (and he wants to too). He did an excellent job and now should pass on his legacy

He hasn't lost touch with gamers. Thread over.

Shigeru Miyamoto has become totally delusional ... Let the younger ones relate to the market. The fact that the sales show that Nintendo software is in a decline shows that Nintendo needs new management in software.

He's very much in touch with gamers (real gamers that is)

im not sure if he realy want to fully retire, he practise gamecreating like an art, i dont think he can stay away from it. but he surely will work a bit less and focus on smaller projects. if other artist works till they die, why shouldnt he do that if he likes too. the problem is that thre is no one who can replace him in the hole industrie.

nintendo should splitt the job and get some realy artistic guy for one of the jobs, why not Suda 51? he is talented, he gives a shit about the rest of the industrie and he is an arts man.  in some aspects he is like shiggy and he could provide the artistic input  nintendo needs(and he worked with nintendo in the past).

Last year when I first heard of the rumors of him retiring, I thought it was a tragedy. Now I could'nt care less. I don't think he is adding much nowadays and he is holding Nintendo back. We have a new wave of talented developers both working on Mario, Zelda and other franchises.

As long as Myamoto has so much to do in Nintendo, I fear we will never see any new titles from them that feel like of this century, by that I mean ambitious games that are new experience w/o being linked to gimmick or awkward mecanics. Uncharted, AC, God of Wars were all ambitious new experience w/o having felt the need to reinvent the wheel.

That's my problem with Myamoto and Nintendo, they try too hard to look outside of the box and reinvent the wheel like if it was the only way for them to give us new experiences instead of giving us what everyone wants.
