if you happen to have any shoe boxes around the house the little packs of Silica Gel which are found in those are fucking great at taking water out of the area around them, if you put the 3ds into a shoe box with some of those or 1 of the de humidifier boxes you can get in a 2euro store it will take every drop of water out of the system.

.... now for the bad news, it wont matter much to fix what has happened, from the sounds of it the front light has prolly suffered a short circuit and burned out, and those are not easily replaced, if you shine a bright light on the screen can you see stuff on it? that just isn't being lit or is it completely off?

If you wanted to be cheeky you could do the trick with the Silica gel/de-humidifier pack, dry out the 3ds completely, then attempt to return it to the store claiming it just stopped working and you have no idea what happened. Most likely it will be returned to a Ninty repair place along with a load of other sticky child destroyed systems and you'll get a refurbished unit back, no questions asked.

Thanks for the response, can't check the screen right now because it's in a bowl of uncooked rice though. Any idea what this can cost me?

And no shoeboxes here either.
