Not that I like those games, the pay for online infrastructure, or achievements.

I don't, though I've come around to achievements.

All three of those just brought previous Tech to consoles. Or in nintendo's case, copy something that was done 20 years ago on their very own console.

All everyone did was popularize and improve previously invented things. 

No. Sony is a hardware company. Their bread and butter is finding new ways to do things. Nintendo isnt on par with Sony when it comes to creating hardware, hence why Nintendo brought them into the industry. Microsoft brought what was already status quo from the PC realm to consoles, thats all.
