I own every game I pirate. Actually one big reason I play roms is to play English translations of Japanese games. You can't play Fire Emblem: New Mystery of the Emblem (2nd DS entry) in English any other way. So with pirating, once the translation is done and playable, I import the Japanese game.
This also gives you the chance to "test" the game first and see if you like it. I didn't import Tales of the Tempest because of how bad it was. Same with Mother 3 (not my style).
I love my PSP, I have so many unfinished PS1/SNES games in my collection. It's so perfect on the go.

But well all know the main reason people do this is to get games with out paying for them. Id say 5% of people do it the proper way, but then again thats just how I see it. I've probably pirated 20-30 games in my time, about 5 or 6 are games I had already brought in the past but didn't own them anymore, and 2-3 games I brought after pirating because I felt they offered me enough fun to garner a purchase. |
Not going to lie, I was like you when I owned my PS2. However I burnt so many games, I never really had a chance to play them all. I ended up half-beating half of them, beating a couple, and leaving the rest untouched. Nowadays, I have a bit more money and I know how valuable some of these games are on eBay after they are discontinued. I only pirate what I own, just feels more satisfying when you beat a game that way.
As to how you play burnt games, you still ended up buying 2-3 games which garnered a purchase. Still something.
