Perhaps he really means a top-down view similar to the kind used in Diablo or parts of GoW. Or the kind of top down view seen in the 2012 e3 tech demo. That wouldn't be bad...

I had read that to achieve the very traditional top down view for ALBW, all the graphics assets had to be slanted to give the proper effect. If he means the traditional top down view, they would be 100% into that. I don't think that fits into 'rethinking the conventions of Zelda' .
