Do you not like the single player in cod games?  I think they are actually pretty good, its a shame some people dont give it the time of day.

I liked the story for MW2 and BO/BO2 but not quite enough to offset the monotonous gameplay. I mean I didn't think the campaign for any of those games was a waste of time (like MW3 was) but if they redirected the time and money spent on the campaign towards refining and adding more content to the multiplayer, I wouldn't have minded.
