Following that rule, why were Roy in Melee or Lucas in Brawl?

..Because every Fire Emblem and Mother game are Nintendo exclusives?

Snake used to be on Nintendo platforms, so rejoice in playing with a character that actually got localized on the west.

Smash Bros. is a Nintendo game. Fire Emblem and Mother are Nintendo published franchises. 100% of the games are on Nintendo consoles. They've earned their spots in Smash Bros. Snake as appeared in close to a dozen games and only 2 have been on Nintendo consoles. Nintendo is clearly the lowest priority for Kojima, so Snake should be the lowest priority for Smash Bros.
