Does anyone really actually care about Bayonetta 2?

Since they got out of their way to fund the game, I would say yes. 

Logically one would assume that, yes.  However, they also funded The Wonderful 101 and sent that game out to die with zero marketing or mass promotion.  I'm still so incredibly disappointed that they would do that to such a fantastic game.

So I remain skeptical about Bayo 2 until I see them actually make a big deal about it outside of Nintendo Directs.
