The Wii U is indeed a lost cause and we already talked about it a hundred times in the countless "Wii U is doomed" threads.
Hooray for you though, you found that game at half the price in a sale. that must mean prices of all Nintendo games are going down right? Specially if the retailer from your neighborhood is the one doing it since that is the center of the universe.
