This is the point I'm trying to raise. Even online with Wii first party games, you pretty much paid RRP for the game months upon months after release (even years in most game's cases)
Look at the fact Mario Galaxy 2 is still £35ish on Amazon. Yet Super Mario 3D World is cheaper.
Yes retailers have the option of lowering how much they charge for a game. However they only do it based on market demands. I don't know how it works in Germany. However GAME in particular, will charge RRP or even more, if they think they can get it (PS4 peripherals cost more at GAME than Sony suggest they're sold for, for example).
However we have to remember, this is a brand new release. And pretty much every retailer in the UK has seen fit to lower their asking price (which comes directly out of their profits on the sales) on the game. This indicates a lack of demand.
Were it not a Nintendo logo on the box, I wouldn't be too surprised. But I can't name a time that Nintendo games have universally had price reductions from most retailers less than a month after launching.
The thing I'm trying to discuss here is, is this a Wii U thing due to the abnormally low userbase, especially in the UK. Or is it going to become the norm for Nintendo as well as other manufacturers?
Sadly a lot of people have gone so defensive as if to say this is just an anti Nintendo post. Why the f**k would I have 2 3DS systems + games and 10 Wii U titles if I just want to seek pleasure from Nintendo failing in my country's marketplace?
