It was my understanding that Nintendo doesn't have RRPs for their games anymore (or was that only for their systems?), and if Grainger Games wanted to sell the game for 39,99£ while the game was available at most German retailers for 42,99€ before or at launch (amazon.de, otto.de, conrad.de, MediaMarkt, Saturn, Gamestop and Müller (that's where I checked when I wanted to buy the game)), suggesting that the common price is/was 42,99€ (it's now 39,99€ at amazon, but again, that's fairly common), then they had a lot of reasons to drop that price, and none of them have anything to do with WiiU being a "lost cause" or not. It's simple economics.
I mean, I know that prices differ between these regions, but they still are fairly similar since you can just import your stuff thanks to the EU. If they overcharge for the game, they have to lower the price. The MediaMarkt I bought the game at (for 42,99€) is now sold out of the game, the one selling it for 49,99€ (which is about 50 kilometers away from the first one) still has plenty in stock, and I'd expect them to lower that price soon.
