I think you're not getting the point here, though.  He was talking about how people think Japan is Nintendo's market.  I was bringing up that the Wii U is weaker in Japan than other regions to point out the fact that Nintendo is in roughly the same position (as a whole) in Japan as it is in other countries in relation to Sony.  Him bringing up PS4 & PS3 vs Wii U in other regions is irrelevant to this point.

Weekly hardware sales in Europe have been roughly double that of Japan this year prior to the PS4 release there.  For 2013 European hardware sales were 83% higher than Japan's.  Last generation sold 168 million console and handheld units in Europe.  Only 77 million were sold in Japan.  Not sure how you can say the European market is roughly the same as Japan.

You're right.  I think when I was typing this I was thinking about all of it in terms of relative to the population size.  Since Europe's population compared to how many buy video games is lower than Japan, I kind of thought of it like that.  

But in terms of how much of the market share each region has, that's right.  But it doesn't really have much to do with my initial argument since I was talking about Nintendo's market share in Japan.
