They are, of course. But they can't do wonders within a certain price range. I followed a lot of twitter accounts around Oculus and there are very talented guys working on the tech behind Oculus with many smart techniques to make people not get headaches or make them puke, for example. Very, very complex math behind all this, leave aside the hardware which is needed for it.
I don't say Sony won't deliver a good VR experience although we have yet to see it. But I think that
a) the hardware of Oculus will be a lot better than Sony's solution just because of the price
b) the experience with Oculus will be a lot better because of the manpower and intelligence put into the project
b) is of course just a guess from me - we will see how it will turn out.
