I'm the same way, no one really spent the time with Ness on SSB, then in SSBM Ness got nerfed badly but I still used him and won many times, now in SSBB Ness is more like his old self with a new feeling and Lucas is a monster in his own right, the bad thing is Lucas isn't as powerful, PK thunder is different timing then Ness so it took me a bit to get used to, and his killer smash attacks take some time but pay off big time when they hit ^A for the win!
Other then that I use Pikachu, some Lucario, PT, a little Captain Falcon, Link, and Toon Link.
