The thing is, yes normally the publsiher should pay for the advertisement of their product but Sony and Microsoft do it so that it is pretty simple, companies like Ubisoft or Acivision will obviously prefer to work with Sony and Microsoft because of that. It's not Nintendo's fault that Sony and Microsoft started with it but it's their fault when they act as if that doesn't give these two companies an advantage and if they don't have to counter this.

If your competition does something which helps them and hurts you and you don't do anything against it then it's your problem.

I don't like that Sony and Microsoft do that but if I would be in their position and not the consumer I would do it as well. 

€dit: and not to forget that Sony and Microsoft get royalties so that it is legitimate if you pay for advertisement of a product of which you get something around 7 bucks per sale from.

I agree with what nintendo does. if they start doing that, third party's would consider it as the normal thing and start demanding even more stuff that it was suposed to be done by them in the first place.

Nintendo can do what they want but they shouldn't wonder if most third party developer prefer Sony and Microsoft which you would probably do as well if you would have a company and would get much more money from two companies as from another one.
