The big deal here is that Wii U uses PowerPC and the others use x86, which is far more inefficient per core. It's hilariously stupid. It takes much more effort to optimize for an x86 system than a PowerPC system, but because 2 of the 3 consoles use it, and they use those as lead consoles, of course they wouldn't be able to run the same graphics on PowerPC. If you code specifically for that PPC platform, you'll get a huge bang for your buck compared to the others. You can do more with less power, in essence. What happens with something like Watch Dogs is that you require SO much more power to optimize it correctly in x86 that if you try and port it over to Wii U, you find your assets aren't running nearly as well.
Like always, it's the question of effort, not power alone. Watch Dogs could easily look 3/4 as good as the Xbone and PS4 counterparts, but nobody wants to put that effort in now that they've coded for supermachines. It pisses me off, and it's why I refuse to buy the other consoles, because we're supposed to be moving forward, not backward with console technology.
