At least it just seems that way. The expectations for it as a system seller are incredibly overblown. We've seen in years past what exclusives do to boost a console's sales, but no, Titanfall will be bigger than that (even though it's not even exclusive). We've seen before that MP only games don't have as much traction, but no, Titanfall will be the exception. We've seen before cross-gen games tend to sell better on the previous gen consoles, but no Titanfall will be an exception (this is the only one I might agree on since MS is ignoring the 360 entirely). The hype around Titanfall is honestly ridiculous. I'm looking forward to buying it on PC when it hits $20, and I played the beta. It's a fun game but it's not even the best thing I've played this year let alone the best game ever. At this point, I can't wait for it to come just so that everyone can finally move on. It'll have it's two or three week boost on X1 sales and then it'll flatline again and we'll start hearing "Wait till E3", "Wait for Pricedrop" or "Wait for Halo".
We've seen this exact pattern of "wait for" with the Wii U. |
I completely agree. People also make the mistake of assuming a boost in X1 sales without considering how Infamous could boost PS4 sales. We'll get about two weeks of premature gloating followed by deep depression! People also seem to be forgetting a MGS bundle will sell better on the PS4 and a likely Driveclub bundle in April.
edit: Is there a X1 bundle for MGS at all?
The PS5 Exists.
