MK7 and presumably MK8 Blue Shells also do this, only with a big explosion once the target is reached! That only makes it more OP, but this is actually also good for balance as again it's another way to hit people asside from first place.

Love when a blue shell comes and im in first, i just slow down to where second and third are and watch the explosion hit everyone :D

That's why it's more OP! Hitting multiple people > hitting one person! Also, when you see someone get's a Blue Shell on the second screen, drop back behind 2nd place and let them take the hit!
