The iMac is a good move - I bought one about 3yrs ago as it ticked a tonne of boxes - easy to use/stable/reliable/great customer support....(its expensive though).
Biggest thing for me was not being able to use all the software I had accumulated over the years. You could of course get Virtual Box or something similar.
