Thanks, that was a good read. Exactly the way I feel about the movie.
It also struck me as odd in the behind the scenes footage how he kept praising the long takes. Apparently it's difficult to do in CGI, memory limitations? I don't know. The animators had trouble with it since they're only used to segments of a couple hundred frames at most. Plus Alfonso decided after the movie was finished to turn the opening sequence upside down and add a 180 degree roll after 6 minutes. Sounds simple, it took 3 months to re-render the opening. Still far less impressive than a life long take.

I also didn't get why they were comparing the simple camera movement inside the Soyuz when Clooney comes in and out with the awesome long take of the car scene in Children of men. The actors duck and fols their seats down to avoid the camera.

The movie was much better too.
