Russia do not wanna Ukraine as a whole, they want east of the country with rich natural deposits, industry, oil pipelines, gas pipelines and access to the sea. I mean Donetsk Kharkiv Odessa. Many Russians lives there.
West Ukraine is poor as a church mouse. How many billions Ukraine needs in 2014 alone ? Over 35 billions. + 1.5 billion every year for Russian gas ( they buy but do not pay ) Thats why they wanna to join EU - they needs money asap. And thats why West or USA dont support Ukraine right now - nobody wanna donate this bankrupt.
