Whats the difference between Demon Souls and Dark Souls anyways?

They're pretty similar, but Dark Souls has an interconnected open world while Demon's does not (it's hub-based), Demon's has consumable healing items but Dark has a rechargeable "Estus Flask" (there are consumable items in Dark Souls 2 though), there's no World Tendency mechanic in Dark Souls, there's no weight limit in Dark Souls, you can upgrade armor in Dark Souls, you don't lose half your health when you die in Dark Souls (this is mitigated by a certain ring though). There are also a few other mechanical changes in Dark Souls, like you can slide down a ladder fast, and you can jump.

Also, the lore in the games is different. Demon's Souls focuses on...demons while Dark Souls is more about the "undead".

So... Demon Souls is harder? If so then that is kinda insane lol
