As for reducing the Talibans influence. Karzai can't keep them incontrol with the waning support the US is giving him. Without the US, Karzai is screwed. Hence why there is talk about bringing the Taliban into the fold government wise. |
Obviously the city has grown, there are way more people now but war and instability for 35 years has done far too much damage. It should of been a developed country by now and Afghanistan likely would of been if it wasn't for ongoing war. Even if Kabul looks similar, stuff like women's rights and decent government certainly don't seem to exist anymore. A huge shame.
While the Taliban to me are like communist insurgents, they thrive off everyone's economic hardship. So if anything, just stop the war. Fund the building of better infrastructure and factories. Similar to Japan after ww2.
