What is Retro Studios REALLY up to?

I would say helping on Mario Kart 8, but unlike 7, 8's had time for full gestation and then some (2.5 years after the rushed 7).

Part of me wants Metroid, part wants new IP. We'll just have to find out (might be a while, though...)
