Worked out fine for HD DVD vs BluRay, VHS vs Betamax, etc. it would work for consoles too. Just because their is no competition right now for BluRay in terms of home film storage media, it's ok. Your not being bent over a barrel. When we only had VHS, the world didn't collapse! It'll be fine, stop worrying! |
But last I checked there are dozens of different companies who make those things, all in competition with one another constantly pushing each other to improve their products or risk going under. If one company, say Sony, had a monopoly on the manufacture and sale of all the home video electronics, then we'd still be using Betamax and MiniDiscs players.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.
