For me, software sales represents more than hardware, the true success of a console. Sadly is very complicated to track correctly the numbers.
PS3 numbers are great because it doesn't fill with games packed in bundles massively like wii sports or kinect, and seeing how it's lasting more than the competition probably will end with more sales than Wii and X360.
Edit: And piracy for handhelds is obviously a reason why PSP and DS are not higher.
