Whoa this is indeed a terrible article presumably written by a man-child in red overalls.
"Nintendo offer a great handheld with games that are certified for the system"
Let's be clear. Any kind of Nintendo seal went out a long time ago. There is no distinction between the app store and gamestop. You can still equally buy a shitty game. It's just that on the app store, you won't lose as much money on it, and you can read the reviews right there.
Making quality games is important. Being a trustworthy company is important. I agree on both fronts....but actually 69p blue shells is what works, and what has made many companies hundreds of millions.

Let's add to that, that Nintendo has no idea what it is doing with its back catalogue. You still cannot buy metroid fusion on 3ds DESPITE that it is in the ambassador program. There is plenty of money out there that Nintendo simply refuses to collect on. Why? Because their heads are in their asses. They chase these new ideas and new revenue sources and can't be bothered with shoring up their lineup.

tl;dr
I don't think Nintendo is capable of doing anything other than making nintendo console games, that includes poorly marketing them, not making them available for purchase, and not supporting them....unless they are a huge moneymaker like pokemon, or mario, don't expect Nintendo do help you out at all.
