The only chance the game has to do that is being bundled and at the same time, giving WiiU a pricecut. Then it stands a chance.

Well both of those things will inevitably happen, maybe not right away but I assume by the holidays. Maybe $249 Mario Kart bundle in Sept-Nov with holiday deals at $199.
